Meet Devin Luginbuhl, owner of Dev Tools, LLC based out of the Northeast region in North Central Connecticut in the Hartford area. Pictured above, he is holding the coveted FTA award from 2022 where Devin activated an impressive 37 new platforms.

Devin has owned the franchise for a year and a half, and prior to that, he had been an assistant for a 30-year Snap-on veteran, Russell Niemann. Devin spent four years learning everything he could from Uncle Russell. That’s right, Russell had been teaching his nephew the business right up until the picture below was taken, on Devin’s first day as the owner of that very same route. We see a very proud uncle and a confident young man. 

When asked what was the one thing Devin learned from Russell that he will always put into practice in the business, without hesitation he said, “Consistency! Make sure your customers know, without a doubt, that they can count on you.”

Devin really utilizes social media in a big way and encourages all customers to follow him on Facebook®, Instagram®, or both. He promotes it every day by having QR codes displayed in his store that take customers directly to his social media pages. Devin tells them to get on there to check out the promos - and they do. Great idea! 

Devin is an extremely confident individual when it comes to selling Snap-on® diagnostic tools. He explained that his confidence comes from all the resources available that Snap-on offers -  both on-line resources and people, like his Diagnostic Sales Developer (DSD) Shaun Shaw. 

We caught up with Shaun to ask why Devin was so successful with diagnostic sales and he gave us several reasons:

Complete faith in the brand. Shaun said there is no doubt in Devin’s mind that he sells the very best in the industry, and no one could tell him any different. 

Devin does things by the successful franchisee book. He prints the Pre-list every week, totes and promotes, and talks about diagnostics to every customer daily.

He does not pre-judge his prospects. In fact, he treats all prospects/customers the same whether they are looking/buying a SOLUS+ or a ZEUS+™  

• His customers see Devin as being in business with them, not just doing business with them. The customer loyalty earned by Devin’s actions explain much of his success.  

We wanted to know what made Devin a good salesman and Shaun responded with “He asks a lot of questions, then he demonstrates to the customer’s how those needs can be met. But most of all, he truly listens.” Now that is a rare attribute in today’s world. 

Since Fast-Track® Intelligent Diagnostics is an exclusive technology to Snap-on, we wanted to know how Devin explains it to his customers. He shared that, “I tell them it will take a “C” tech to an “A” tech in no time. Additionally, that it will make them more profitable. And that the data is specific to the code. Then, I put it in their hands and tell them it is the best there is and Snap-on® support is unsurpassed.”

Devin is a BIG believer in making sure that his APOLLO-D9 and TRITON-D10 loaners remain in the hands of prospects at all times. He stated that many times this leads to everyone in the shop buying one.

He also believes in the programs and promotions that diagnostics offers and goes all in on those. He made the statement to us, “Why try to re-invent the wheel?” Like Shaun told us, Devin just really trusts the brand.
