There’s a lot of parts out there that when you replace them you need to do some sort of relearn in order to get the vehicle to even run properly.
For example, on this FIAT if you replace the throttle body you need to do a throttle body relearn or it won’t even run at all, so let’s walk through that pretty easy procedure.
This relearn is located in the Engine module, it needs to be determined which ECU is in there so we’ll hit continue and it’s going to ID it.
It’s also under System Tests in here and we’ve got a couple of different things – relearning a brake switch, air conditioning self-learning, but we’re going to do the throttle body self-learn on this one so we’ll click on that.
It says this function will begin the throttle body self-learning procedure. The ignition key should be in the run position with the engine off.
It’s going to cycle through, it’s going to open and close that throttle body a couple of times to see what the length of travel is back and forth, and then once it’s done it’s going to give you either a pass or a fail.
This one passed so as you can see, a couple of seconds and a couple of clicks, and the throttle body is relearned to the car.
